MOROCCO

In September 2023, Morocco was hit by a magnitude 6.8 earthquake, one of the deadliest in more than 60 years, leaving 2,681 killed and 2,501 injured. The quake left thousands of people homeless, forced many to evacuate with some remote villages wiped out completely and rescue teams are facing challenges reaching others. Thousands of survivors are struggling to survive the aftermath of the earthquake as many infrastructures and facilities have been damaged.

Food Basket

Food baskets with rice, flour, cooking oil, canned goods, and other essentials were provided to ensure families had nutritious meals despite disrupted supply chains. This support offered immediate relief, eased financial burdens, and helped survivors focus on urgent needs like shelter, healthcare, and education. It also gave comfort and solidarity, reminding families they were not alone. Such assistance remains vital while awaiting reconstruction, offering stability and hope as communities work to rebuild their lives

Winter Aid

Thousands of displaced survivors were relocated to temporary shelters in open fields or community spaces, serving as immediate refuge after losing homes and belongings. As the quake struck just before winter, the tents gave little protection from the cold, putting children and the elderly at risk of illness. To ease their suffering, blankets, mattresses, and bedding were distributed, offering warmth, comfort, and dignity. Though temporary, this aid was crucial in helping families endure winter until permanent housing and reconstruction could begin.
