CAMBODIA

Cambodia has the lowest rural sanitation coverage in the region with sustainable water access remains a challenge for the population, especially those living in rural villages and areas near to the border. The unreliable water access is also a problem for the female communities as women tend to be asked to collect water, often causing them to skip school and even expose themselves to external dangers such as sexual predators, wild animals etc. As Cambodia is still developing itself after decades of foreign interference, civil war and genocide, humanitarian relief efforts must be strategically provided to the people to upstart their lives, to increase their resiliency and to make independent enough to provide for their families in every aspects including education, food, water etc.
Water Well
Cambodia is known as a tropical country, however, during the summer, water level will become low in the rivers, turning the water supply muddy, murky and stinky. For the rural population, they have no other choice but to use the polluted water for drinking and cleaning which is why water wells were built to provide a continuous supply of clean water. Motorized pumps were attached to the wells to increase the pumping capacity, allowing more water to be pumped in. More young ladies are able to go to school as they do not have to fetch water recurrently.
Qurban
The Qurban project in Cambodia addresses the critical need for food among vulnerable families, particularly those impacted by decades of conflict, poverty, and displacement. Many Cambodian Muslim families, especially in rural areas or refugee camps, struggle to afford the meat traditionally consumed during Eid al-Adha. This project provides sacrificial meat to thousands of families, including internally displaced persons (IDPs), low-income households and communities living in conflict zones. The Qurban project ensures that not only families can partake in the Eid celebration with dignity but also helps them to alleviate hunger, improve nutrition and foster a sense of solidarity among them.
