MRA Kelantan Supports UIA Student Outreach at Orang Asli Village in Gua Musang
Malaysian
Relief Agency (MRA) Kelantan has extended its support to Program Peduli Asli
3.0 by contributing hygiene kits to student volunteers from the Comrade Club of
International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Gombak. The initiative took
place in the Orang Asli village of Sungai Lebir, Gua Musang, Kelantan.
The
contribution was officially handed over by Encik Mohd Zakri Bin Ab Rahman, Operation
Staff of MRA Kelantan, accompanied by Cik Nur Hafiza Bt Mokhtar, representing
the MRA Kelantan Executive Committee. The ceremony was held at Sekolah Pasir
Linggi, a key community facility within the village.
MRA
Kelantan commends the commitment and spirit of volunteerism shown by the IIUM
students, who camped in the village from 1st to 4th May 2025, dedicating their
time to religious and community engagement activities. Reaching the village
required navigating 8.8 km of partially paved roads, steep hill terrain, dense
forest, and plantation areas, a journey that speaks to the resilience and
dedication of these young volunteers.
This
contribution reflects MRA Kelantan’s ongoing mission to support grassroots
efforts in underserved and hard-to-reach areas. By providing practical aid and
moral support, MRA hopes to empower local and student led initiatives that
foster meaningful relationships with marginalised communities, such as the
Orang Asli.
It
is hoped that programs like Peduli Asli 3.0 will inspire more university
students to actively engage in volunteerism, not just during their academic
years, but as a lifelong commitment to serving others, especially in remote and
vulnerable communities across Malaysia.
