PASO SINGGIT KLUANG BRINGS HOPE AND DIGNITY TO 250 FAMILIES IN SIMPANG RENGAM
Simpang Rengam, 1 June 2025 – In a heartfelt mission to uplift vulnerable communities, Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA) Johor successfully carried out the PASO SINGGIT programme at the Taman Harmoni Community Hall, benefiting over 250 families from diverse backgrounds, including asnaf, B40 households, Persons with Disabilities (OKU), and others in need.
Program Kongsi Rezeki is an
annual MRA initiative supporting underprivileged communities, particularly
during Ramadan. The preparation and distribution of bubur lambuk involved
dedicated volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure the program's success.
Beyond providing meals, this initiative also sought to strengthen unity and
solidarity within the local community.
The event was officiated by En. Mohd Ameer Haikal bin Obet, official representative of YB Dato’ Haji ‘On bin Jabbar@Ja’afar - Deputy State Secretary of Johor (Sports, Youth and Volunteers). Also present were Ms. Masriani Hussin, representing the President of the Kluang District Council, Ms. Sarina Ayob - Zone Council Member and key leaders from the Taman Harmoni Residents’ Association.
With the inspiring theme “Everyone Can Give,” PASO SINGGIT offered a symbolic marketplace where each item, ranging from rice to diapers, was sold for just RM1. This unique concept aimed not only to provide relief but to preserve the dignity of every recipient, empowering them to make choices based on their own needs.
More than RM25,000 worth of essential goods were made available, thanks to the generosity of the Parliament of Simpang Renggam, Econsave, local NGOs, private donors, and community supporters. Among the items distributed were:
· 5kg bags of rice
· Half-cut chicken portions
· Cooking oil, sugar, salt
· Assorted vegetables and dry goods
· Diapers, hygiene kits, and pre-loved clothes
This meaningful event was made possible by the incredible dedication of over 100 volunteers from various organisations, including MRA Johor, Free Market Johor, Southern Volunteers, Semut Kecil, PLUS, KRT Taman Harmoni, students from UNIKL and Sekolah Menengah Dato’ Abdul Rahman Andak, and many others.
The atmosphere was filled with smiles, laughter, and heartfelt moments as families browsed and selected necessities for their households, experiencing the joy of giving and receiving in a respectful, empowering environment.
“It’s not just about handing out aid. It’s about restoring dignity, creating smiles, and showing our community that they are seen, valued, and never alone,” said a volunteer from MRA Johor.
MRA extends its deepest appreciation to all who contributed, whether in time, goods or spirit. This initiative is a shining example of what can be achieved when NGOs, government bodies, the private sector and everyday Malaysians come together in the spirit of solidarity.
As part of MRA’s ongoing commitment to community empowerment, PASO SINGGIT will continue to serve as a model for compassionate, dignified outreach. We welcome partnerships from individuals and organisations who share the belief that even small acts of kindness can create lasting impact.
Let’s continue making giving accessible to all. Together, we can ensure that no one is left behind.
