Helping Hands on the Highway: MRA Supports 3,000 Travellers Heading Home

Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA), in collaboration with strategic partners AFA Prime Berhad, Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia (LLM) and Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM), successfully carried out the “Jom Balik Kampung” programme on March 17, 2026, at Plaza Tol Gombak, distributing 3,000 food packs to highway users travelling home for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Held under MRA’s Infaq Kasih Ramadan initiative, the programme reflects a collective commitment to ensuring the safety, comfort and well-being of road users during the festive balik kampung season. The initiative was further strengthened through support from corporate partners including Zus Coffee, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL), McDonald’s, Gardenia, Nestlé and Mamee Monster.

Each food pack, consisting of refreshments, bread and light snacks, was prepared and distributed by volunteers from multiple agencies. The distribution process proceeded smoothly and was carried out in a spirit of cooperation and unity until 10:00pm.

The programme was officiated by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Dr Zulkifli Hasan, who also took time to personally distribute food packs to motorists at the toll plaza. His presence underscored the government’s continued support for community-driven initiatives that prioritise public welfare.

AFA Prime Berhad also expressed pride in being part of the initiative, highlighting its role in supporting efforts to ease the journey of highway users during the festive season. Representing the company, Executive Director En. Amnan Khalid attended the programme, accompanied by Executive Director En. Amzar Khalid from AFA Project and Management Services.
